Welcome to CAPTE, the new TransforMed partner supporting agroforestry in Tunisia

The TransforMed consortium is delighted to announce that CAPTE – Collectif d’Acteurs pour la Plantation et la Transition Environnementale – has officially joined the project this August. Based in Tunisia, CAPTE brings valuable expertise in climate adaptation, farmer networking, and knowledge-sharing, helping to advance nature-based solutions from the field to national platforms.

Since its creation, CAPTE has been convinced that agroforestry is a key solution for adapting agriculture and forests to climate change. Through its activities, the association operate to promote and scale up this approach across Tunisia. When contacted by Harun C. from FiBL Germany, one of the initiators of TransforMed, CAPTE expressed strong enthusiasm for collaboration within the project.

CAPTE is already making important contributions to the project:

  • Technical documentation to support the adoption of agroforestry practices among local stakeholders.
  • Collaboration with ICARDA to organize Open Field Days (OFDs) on practical topics such as grafting, pruning, and planting.
  • Coordination of the "Agroforestry Caravan", a series of awareness-raising events and exchange visits.
  • Support for the national agroforestry conference in Tunisia, which will bring stakeholders together to share knowledge and best practices.

Earlier this spring, CAPTE's team supported TransforMed activities in Tunisia by arranging meetings with practitioners, farmers, and stakeholders engaged in agroforestry. More recently, they conducted workshops in the Dyr El Kef region to raise awareness among local actors and demonstrate how agroforestry systems could integrate rural landscape though a progressive implementation.

All the partners are excited to continue working with CAPTE's highly skilled team and to explore new synergies with Tunisian initiatives.
